We have it on good authority that Spring will eventually descend upon us. It may not seem like it with the snow and low temperatures, but so far, every year Spring has come. With that in mind, we bring you interior designers do’s and dont’s for this year for your edification.
What is hot for this year according to interior designers?
Instead of earthy neutral colors, the experts say we should be all over mossy green. They suggest painting one wall a calming light green. Or, you might try some mossy green dinnerware. If you aren’t that confident that with green, perhaps you might want to change throw pillows and soft throw blankets.
We hear that mud cloth is out. However, we are uncertain what mud cloth is. So, to Google we go! According to Wikipedia, “Bògòlanfini or bogolan (Bambara: bɔgɔlanfini; “mud cloth“) is a handmade Malian cotton fabric traditionally dyed with fermented mud. It has an important place in traditional Malian culture and has, more recently, become a symbol of Malian cultural identity. The cloth is being exported worldwide for use in fashion, fine art and decoration.” So now we know!
Moving on, mud cloth’s dark colors can be broken up with bold geometric patterns used elsewhere. Apparently, mud cloth features indigo strongly. According to our source article, you can add color to mud cloth textures with an easy change like a new geometric rug or colorful throw pillows. Such things can change the entire feeling of your room, and aren’t terribly expensive.
What about that fringe?
The design experts say go fringe crazy! Adding a bit of fringe to your life will add color and will be super stylish this year!
Finally, those pesky designers assure us that we will enjoy these new interior design trends when we make these seasonal changes. We hope so.
